About 1st

 

First United Methodist Church of Leavenworth is the oldest United Methodist congregation in Kansas. We have ministered with the people of Leavenworth since 1854. We have long roots and deep traditions--we are a church of the ages. 

 

But, we are also a church, as an ancient hymn suggests, "serving the present age, our calling to fulfill!" We never lose sight of Jesus' call to make disciples, to love God, and to love our neighbors with all the creativity, innovation, and passion with which the Holy Spirit has endowed us.

 

So, we cherish the living tradition of the church even as we push forward in our desire to communicate the good news of God's love in Jesus Christ in ever fresh and inspiring ways.
