What's so important about the Bible?

We believe that the writings Christian refer to as the Holy Bible, or the Scripture, is God's Word. When we read God's Word Jesus himself meets us and showers us with God's life-changing grace. Our tradition as United Methodists teaches us that "Jesus Christ is the living Word of God in our midst whom we trust in life and death." Because of this, we believe that God's Word is the primary authority for our faith and practice; we look to the Bible to find our way forward in life. The upshot is, we are convinced that people need to soak up God's Word any way they can!  So, we encourage you to get connected to a Bible study or Sunday school class that consistantly and faithfully teaches the Bible. Attend worship and engage your heart and mind in the reading of the Word and sermon. Read the Bible on your own--if you have questions about something you're reading, contact one of our pastors.  They'll be glad to help you understand and apply what you're reading.  Finally, if you read the Bible then expect to be changed! Remember, when you read the Bible you're encountering Jesus Christ the living Word!
