So, what is a Christian?

Christians are people who have made a decision to follow Jesus as leader of their lives.

Our stories are different but we have something in common: we admitted that we couldn't live without Him, without His love, His grace, His mercy, His forgiveness.

You Just Knew Him

Some of us grew up going to church, reading the Bible and learning the stories of the faith. At some point along the way we knew at the deepest place in our soul that this Jesus we grew up knowing was as much a part of who we are as the beat of our own heart--we just know that Jesus is God's Son, our Savior. We might not remember the day or even year we knew him to be our Savior--we just know it.

It was something like realizing that the person you were dating loved you--and that you loved that person too. And then you

made an intentional decision to give yourselves to one another in a committed, faithful, life-long relationship. And that's a bit like your relationship with Jesus. Somewhere in the midst of Sunday School and sermons, Vacation Bible School and youth group you realized that God has shown you the depth of his love in Jesus Christ, and that you love Him too. And you accepted His love and forgiveness, and committed yourself to following him the rest of your life.

You Discovered Him

Others of us did not grow up in church. But something inside us, a voice inviting us to come back to the home we didn't realize we had strayed from, beckoned us to launch out on a voyage of spiritual discovery. And, like some long-ago sailor discovering land, we

discovered God's Son Jesus Christ. When we arrived there we knew without a doubt that in Jesus we had found what we were looking for all along. We found ourselves at home and at peace. And we determined to stake our lives in Him and in no one else.

You Cried Out to Him

For some of us the times were tough. Life had just gotten out of hand. Bad choices with sad outcomes, wrong roads leading to dead ends. So, we cried out to God--if there was a God--and hoped that Someone was listening who cared. To our suprise, relief, gratitude we heard a voice calling back to us that we were loved no matter what we did or what had gone wrong or how badly we had screwed up. We discovered God's forgiveness and love in Jesus His Son. And we're starting to get back on the right track. Life might not be perfect, but at least we're not alone--we have a friend walking with us who is showing us the Way.

 So what's your story?

Becoming a Christian isn't a matter of following some formula. There aren't neat and tidy steps-relationships aren't neat and tidy. And, being a Christian is ALL about being in a relationship with someone who loves you more than you can imagine. You have to get to know that person. His name is Jesus. If you would like help getting to know Jesus and how you can enjoy a relationship with him, contact one of our pastors.  They'll be glad to talk with you and point you in the right direction.
